Will I share the helicopter with other people?
Only if you request to share. Otherwise the flight will be private, with the people of your reservation.
How many people per helicopter?
Rio Helicopters works with different aircrafts of different sizes, the most used aircraft being R44 and Jet Ranger, with capacity for 3 or 4 passengers respectively.
Can I choose to sit in the front or by the window?
On private flights, you can usually choose your seats. However, for safety reasons and better aircraft balance, the Pilot in command may request a change on the seating arrangements. On shared flights, the seats will be defined according the weight of each person and the type helicopter being used.
Does Rio Helicopters follow all safety rules?
Yes! Our air operations meet all the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) requirements. We follow all aircraft maintenance and crew training rules. Our team is totally focused on the safety and satisfaction of our customers.
What is the weight limit for flying?
The limit is on average 120 kilos per seat, depending on the aircraft used and the total weight of all passengers.
Can children and pregnant women fly?
yes, children up to 2 years old don’t pay and will travel on someone’s lap, as long as they keep the weight limit per seat of 120 kilos. 1 lap child per flight is allowed. Children over 2 years old cannot go on the lap and occupy a seat. Normally there are no contraindications for pregnant women to do a helicopter flight, but we always recommend checking with your doctor first.
How long before the flight should I arrive?
We ask that you to arrive 30 mins before take-off, for payment and check in before the flight.
What happens if I am late or want to cancel my flight?
In the event of a delayed arrival, your flight will be rescheduled according to availability, with no guarantee that it will take place on the same day.
We ask that you notify us as soon as possible in the event of a cancellation to avoid a NO SHOW.
Do I need a document to fly?
Yes, you must take an ID with photo (photocopy or from cell phone).
Can I use my cell phone during the flight?
No problem, you will have signal fluctuations, but you can use your cell phone for posts, calls, photos and videos.
Where is the meeting point and do you provide transportation?
We have 2 take-off locations: Olympic Golf Course and Jacarepaguá Airport, both in Barra da Tijuca. Please check your booking confirmation to know your take-off location.
Rio Helicopters offers a car & driver service at an extra cost and subject to availability. You can request it via the website or WhatsApp.
What happens in case of bad weather?
If the weather is not as you wish for your flight and you prefer to reschedule, please contact us to asap. But if the weather conditions are so bad and take-off is not recommended, then our own team will contact you to reschedule.
If my flight is private, can I change the route?
The route of the scenic flights cannot be changed, but you can request a personalised route and we will analise it.
I'm scared, will I be able to fly?
We understand your concern and we want to help you to have this incredible experience! We plan our flight so to make smoother manoeuvres and our pilots are very well trained and prepared to help in these situations. To further assist you, you can use our headphones with a microphone to communicate with the pilot and your flight companions.
